Fishing a new brook and thrilled to bank the smallest fish that I’ve ever caught
I often explore new places and especially brooks, as I love that type of venue.
On this occasion, I have covered a lot of bank, sitting there for prolonged periods of time in search of piscatorial life.
In one mile, I’ve only discovered (so far) one tiny section of three yards that contained fish.
Coming across a number of adult and juvenile sticklebacks was exciting enough but to see a stone loach was on another level.
Naturally, I returned with some fishing gear and you can see the result of that in the video.
Just the one fish but it’s the smallest that I’ve ever caught, which makes it really special.
Tackle: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel. Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon straight through. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook. Bait was a single white maggot, which I nipped with scissors.
Nature notes: A pair of ravens landed in the immediate woodland to roost. Muntjac seen on way back from the brook.
