🎣 Fishing | A midnight start to the new flowing water season after barbel on a stream
After three months of the close season, we can now fish the rivers – and streams and brooks – again. Looking to hit the ground running, I was on the bank late evening on the 15th, as the season began at midnight.
The barbel was my intended target, which is a needle-in-a-haystack species as far as the venue I fished is concerned. I last visited a decade ago and didn’t even know if barbel were still in there.
Sometimes that’s one of the things that attracts us as anglers. The mystery. The unknown. On this occasion, although I didn’t catch a barbel, I landed chub and roach. The river season? It’s great to be back.
