Montgomery Canal fishing on the way to work

Canal fishing on the way to work.

With a Cymru Premier game against Penybont FC this coming Saturday, plus the women in action on Sunday, I made my usual midweek trip to Park Hall for interviews.

The River Severn is still not where I’d like it to be, in fact, as I saw on the journey to work, it’s in the fields again.

So, a couple of hours on the Montgomery Canal it was.

My last two outings there have resulted in blanks.

Fishing a different spot this time, although in the same general area, it was a case of ‘third time lucky’, as they say.

After an initial missed bite, I caught the first roach that you can see in the video.

After that, it was slow but I still banked a few fish, some of which are also captured in the footage.

I fished the boat channel with two white maggots over mixed maggots and brown crumb.

The float was a 0.6g waggler, the hook was a Drennan Super Specialist size 14, with 4lb Maxima Chameleon the line on the reel that went straight through.
