After a jog and quiet time, fishing

I was up well before the lark, which isn’t difficult when you consider it’s closer to 8.00 a.m. rather than 7.00 when it’s light properly.

After my morning jog and personal spiritual time, I loaded the car, made a flask of tea and was on my way to a pond.

With a working football game later in the day, it was always going to be a short session.

Those type of angling outings are made easier when you keep your rod made up and ready to go.

On this occasion, as I was familiar with the swim I fished, it was simply a case of taking off the velcro band, piecing the rod together, putting a couple of maggots on the hook and casting out.

As it was already set at the right distance, I didn’t even need to adjust the float.

Mixing sloppy brown crumb and adding maggots, I threw the attractor bait a rod-length from the bank in three feet of water.

Once the fish moved in after about fifteen minutes, the action was regular.

Not hectic but consistent.

Although I didn’t use the landing net, it was a very enjoyable session.

I was going to net a fish though, right at the end, and the reason I didn’t is revealed in the video.
