Quality over quantity on a small pond
After yesterday’s afternoon angling session, it was back to early morning this time.
The pond in question has a lot of stunted roach and I’ve always done well when fishing with maggots.
This time I tried sweetcorn and, as expected, I had less fish.
However, as I hoped, they were a better average as far as size was concerned.
All relative, of course, but it is a small venue so you have to see the big picture.
I do enjoy the small, intimate places very much indeed.
Nature watch: A grey heron landed on the pond, in a very shallow corner. It was wary of me but just far enough away to stay there.
