September 1
Sleeping with the window open, I was woken at 4.00 a.m. by a very close and very vocal tawny owl.
My dog got up with me, so I let him in the garden and I went out myself.
Although I could still hear it though, I couldn’t see it.
September 2
Following on from the recent hedgehogsighting in the back garden, several droppings have appeared so it’s obviously visiting regularly now.
September 3
I let the dog in the garden at 5.45 a.m. and there was a pipistrelle feeding.
I went inside to get my batbox, to listen to it, but when I came out it had gone.
On the evening, a hedgehog in the garden.
September 10
Red admiral and large white in the garden.
September 11
A regular visit on the feeding station this morning from a coal tit.
September 17
Another hedgehog sighting in the garden.
September 21
Single carrion crow on neighbour’s aerial first thing.
September 26
A brown rat chasing a grey squirrel across the lawn, round the palm tree and back across the lawn again.
September 28
First cormorant of the year, a single bird in high flight south to north over the valley.
September 29
Two common frogs, one in the main pond and the other in the water feature on the patio.
September 30
Three mallards in late dusk flight from east to west over the garden.
