A very enjoyable angling session to start the working week

I had maggots still in the fridge from my last purchase, and with lots of them having turned to casters, not that I need any excuse to go fishing, but I drove to a pond for a short session to start the working week before they all changed.

Fishing a small waggler in water that was just one foot deep, with the shot either side of the float the bait sank naturally.

I had a question in the guest book about how deep do I fish, the answer being that I set the float so I’m slightly over the depth of the water.

With the water temperature still holding up though, I have been catching lots of fish on the drop.

That was the case on this session as well, including rudd, which along with the roach were also taking floating casters from the surface.

There was also the hint of roach in some of the rudd as well, so to be specific, hybrids.

In addition, I caught perch, with each species banked represented in the short embedded videos.

As well as two white maggots on the size 14 hook, I also did very well on double caster.

The fish are also part of the collage image above.

Nature watch: kingfisher in flight across the pond.
