After watching television football, popping out for some lure fishing

After The New Saints’ victory in the SPFL Trust Trophy yesterday, I was hoping that Bala Town would join us in the draw for the next round.

I watched the game, against Queen’s Park, live on Sgorio’s YouTube channel but unfortunately there’s just the one Welsh team remaining in the competition, as the Lakesiders lost 3-0.

After the football, I popped out for a short mini-jigging session.

That’s where lure angling comes into its own. Time is limited but with minimal gear and the rod already made up, away you go.

On a shallow section of lake, I was treated to scattering fry as small perch gorged themselves on the tiny roach.

I was fishing with a 0.7g jig head and a two-inch rubber fish and although just small perch, I caught.
