The birth of my personal football memorabilia collection
As well as the beginning although I didn’t realise it at the time, of a career change, nine years ago today was also the birth of something else.
My personal football memorabilia collection.
I was given a programme and a team sheet, and although I’d saved the former since I was a child, it was the first time I had one of the latter.
Thinking my appearance on TNS Radio was nothing more than a one-off, I thought to myself that I’d keep the team sheet especially as a memory.
Little did I realise that was the beginning of a collection that is currently in the thousands as far as individual items are concerned.
There are still team sheets and programmes, the difference is I now get them signed.
The beauty of my collection is that it’s all personal and everything carries a memory.
I’ve got lots of items on display in my man cave, as well as many more neatly stored in boxes.
