First crucian carp outing of the year — More potholes than road

I have fished it twice before – and blanked on both occasions – so I was prepared.

I also know other anglers that have had fruitless sessions on there, so it’s definitely a challenge.

I fished in eight feet of water just off the drop-off, with float-fished maggots on one rod and legered corn on the other.

Not that I believe in it, but it wasn’t a case of third time lucky either, as once again I blanked.

I did have the tiniest of pulls on the quiver tip though, so that was encouraging.

Plus, I saw several fish topping as we hit dusk.
