April 2
A magpie nesting site in woodland.
Mallards (4m, 3f) on main pool, along with 2 moorhens.
Lots of lesser celandine in flower alongside Bobs Brook.
First valley butterfly of the year, a male brimstone.
A new bird tick that I was absolutely thrilled with, a wood warbler.
The area it was in is very much natural habitat but is it just a migrating bird? I’ll certainly be back to find out.
April 4
Male sparrowhawk and brimstone butterfly.
First chiffchaff singing this year but not seen.
April 9
There should be more sightings due to the water in the valley but the wagtails aren’t there in numbers as you would expect.
First pied wagtails of the year though, on the road right at the very head of the lane.
