I mixed bread with brown crumb to attract chub and then a chunk of bread around the hook.
I was there from about 3.30 p.m. and I did get some early very slight plucks, which looked like small fish attacking the bread.
That’s always good, as far as I’m concerned, because I believe that a crowd attracts a crowd.
Small feeding fish in the swim will draw in the bigger ones and they’ll be more confident and comfortable when it comes to taking the bait.
It went to plan, as I hooked, played and landed the chub that you can see in the lead image.
