Woken by a helicopter and kicking off a new month on the angling front using a rod with no name
After a full day’s work to end September, I went to bed early (before midnight), but then I was woken by a police helicopter searching the valley for someone.
We get this fairly regularly. I guess there’s a car chase involving the police, and the criminals dump their vehicle and try to hide in the woodland. And the helicopter turns up.
Anyway, I don’t know if they nabbed their man (or woman), but I was hoping to catch something and get off the October angling mark in style.
I had planned an afternoon trip anyway, which was just as good, with the sleep disruption.

A couple of calling ravens passed over, just above the treetops. I saw two kingfishers in low flight over the water, likely to be the same bird.
