🎣 The positive effect of playing football and going fishing with a couple of decent perch in the process

After my physical exertions on the football field last night, when I woke up this morning, it felt like I had played a game of football

However, I mean that in a nice way.

I didn’t feel old and decrepit but rather positive, knowing that I pushed my body in the right way and I was feeling the benefits. It’s not light now properly until 7.30 a.m. which means that I’m usually up before the alarm anyway.

It’s only during the summer months when the alarm is necessary.

Back on the small pool, it was a very mild start to the day and I felt confident.

Mind you, I always feel that there’s a fish to be caught whenever I go.

In reality, that might not always be the case, but never underestimate the value of confidence when it comes to angling.

You can follow the session via the video, where I caught roach and perch, including a couple of decent fish on the last two casts.

As always, when considering fish weights, it’s important to take the venue into account.

Nature notes while fishing

Flocks of redwings passed over c.30, c.30, c.50.

Flock of fieldfare passed over c.100.

Grey wagtail on overhanging branches on the far side of the pool. It’s a resident bird and a regular place to spot them as there is often a pair showing.

Hovering kestrel, just above hedgerow level as I drove from the pool.
