🎣 From a piscatorial perspective, ending the month how I started it
It’s the final day of May and, like all the others, I went fishing.
I started the month on a pool presenting a prawn, and that’s exactly how I ended it as well.
A gentle flick of the float and I was fishing in five-feet of water, over brown crumb and prawns.
Although just a short session of 2.5 hours, it was a productive one.
On the bank at dawn, it’s the early bird that catches the worm, as towards the end it went very quiet, although I did catch a tinca last cast.
I caught mostly perch, with two tench, a few roach and and one roach-rudd hybrid to add variety. I also had a bite-off from a pike.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan waggler 0.8g. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
Nature notes: Pair of coots with two young. Five swifts briefly feeding high over the immediate area. Two vocal ring-necked parakeets. Grey heron looking to land on far bank margins, saw me and continued its journey elsewhere. Female mallard with four young.
