🎣 Hobbling my way to bream and tench on float-fished prawn
I hobbled off the football pitch yesterday evening and I hobbled my way to the water’s edge this morning.
Fishing a small pool with prawn over brown crumb, the water was about five-feet deep and, although not a totally clear bottom, bait presentation wasn’t an issue.
I find that prawn, although not as productive as maggots in terms of quantity, is definitely one of those baits that puts quality on the bank.
That was the case on this three-hour session, when a tench was followed by a bream, then more tincas and a second Abramis brama.
Not huge fish but nevertheless, from the venue, decent enough and that’s always the lens through which we view our captures.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Waggler float 1g. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
Nature notes: Ring-necked parakeet, with several sightings of a single, vocal bird flying in and out of woodland. Two kingfisher sightings. Pair of coots with two young. Female mallard with five young. Grey wagtail in undulating flight across the pool.
