Season 6 episode 1.
Once Arthur finds out how much landscape gardeners charge for work, he has a go himself, using ex-convicts as cheap i.e. free labour.
Of course, it all goes wrong and he doesn’t make any money,
The people he employed use the opportunity to check out homes so that they can steal items.
In the end, they have to return everything before Sgt. Chisholm catches up with them.
Minder: Life In The Fast Food Lane (1985)
Season 6 episode 2.
Arthur gets his hands on a batch of car phones, which were the height of technology at the time.
Unfortunately, they’re dodgy and the police are soon on the case.
Meanwhile, Terry gets involved with a rich girl and her father offers Arthur £10,000 to break their relationship.
He does but then finds out the man’s business has gone bankrupt and he’s done a runner before he can collect his money.
Minder: The Return Of The Invincible Man (1985)
Season 6 episode 3.
After chatting with his friend, Solly, who wants someone to break into his safe so that he can do an insurance scam, Arthur hires Scotch Harry.
The operation is bungled and Harry ends up covered in bandages, which help him to avoid police identification.
Arthur and Terry rescue him from hospital before Chisholm and Jones can find out who it is.
Minder: Arthur is Dead, Long Live Arthur (1985)
Season 6 episode 4.
Faced with a big tax bill, Arthur decides to end it all, except it’s just a hoax to let people believe that’s what he’s done.
He leaves his jacket and hat, along with a farewell note, on a bridge over the River Thames.
With Chisholm on his case, he pretends to have had amnesia so that he escapes justice.
It stars Penny Morrell, who was George Cole’s wife in real life.
Minder: From Fulham with Love (1985)
Season 6 episode 5.
A Soviet Union boat docks for a while and Arthur sells them watches and tee-shirts.
They pay him in roubles though, only for him to discover that British banks won’t cash them.
One of the seamen goes missing and when the bosun (played by Rula Lenska) starts to ask questions, Arthur thinks the KGB is after him.
Minder: Waiting For Goddard (1985)
Season 6 episode 6.
Arthur is interested when an old hermit, Goddard, is potentially about to inherit a lot of money.
He becomes his proxy in dealing with the authorities.
The main thread though is the worsening relationship between Arthur and Terry.
You can sense that the end is nigh.
