🎣 Fishing the River Severn and it’s action all the way
More than many rivers, the Severn is susceptible to sudden rises in the level. It may not even be raining in the area where it’s closest to where I live (the Shropshire / Worcestershire border section) but it may have been bucketing it down in Wales.
Hence, the water level graph indicates an extremely sharp increase. Just as quickly though, a few dry days later and it starts to plummet. As you can see from the screenshot in the video, that’s what is occurring right now.
I took advantage of the positive conditions by being on the bank at first light, which is now before 6.30 a.m. I fished for just over four hours and I was still home for a late breakfast.
The temperature (both air and water) is now on the increase and that has an effect on fish feeding. It was the busiest session I’ve had yet this year with constant roach action and two quality perch on the bank.
