🎣 Football travels later, first a short trip to a pool

I’m off on my football-related travels this weekend, but before then there was time to do an hour or so fishing first thing on a pool.

It was a lovely morning and could quite easily have been a late spring day, as opposed to a winter one.

With six feet of water underneath the rod tip, I flicked the float out and waited for action.

Fishing a grain of corn over loose corn, I didn’t have long to wait, and from then on it was a steady trickle of roach activity until I packed away.

The overwhelming majority of sessions so far this year have been in pursuit of roach.

That will change in due course but, for now, I’m thoroughly enjoying catching them.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 0.6g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 12 hook.

Nature notes: Two early ravens flying from the woodland roost. Cormorant overhead and a grey heron landed alongside the pool. A coot has appeared to join the three resident moorhens.
