🎣 A session of two halves on the Staffs/Worcs Canal
I concluded last month’s angling on the Staffs/Worcs Canal and, a day later, I was back to begin February’s fishing.
There was an angler already on the stretch and he hadn’t caught anything, which didn’t surprise me, as it has been tough going this year.
I fished with my usual tackle approach, and presented two red maggots over brown crumb and loose maggots, in the boat channel.
It was slow going and I didn’t catch for the first hour.
It was certainly a session of two halves though because the second hour saw three species on the bank.
The chub, perch and roach weren’t big, but considering the challenge, I was more than happy.
I’m looking to get amongst some better quality fish this year but you won’t catch specimens every time.
