🎣 Angling | As the heatwave continues, fishing the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal

This is the third heatwave of the summer so far – although the first one was at the end of May, so technically spring – and by far the longest, as it still continues, with no sign of easing on the horizon.

This angling session was a late one on the local Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, where I fished two hours up to late dusk.

I chose a swim that was well-shaded anyway, so although it was warm, I was out of the direct rays of the sun.

Going for a prawn-over-maggots approach, I did have a spell with the latter, and it was a clump of whites on a size 10 hook that saved the day.

It may been just a small perch but it meant I was just on the right side of the mark. It’s a fine line sometimes, however it’s always good to be on the ‘I caught’ side. Home
