🎣 Fishing the Dee estuary at low water
Following on from the three sessions at Rhyl harbour, where I caught a trio of five-bearded rocking, I have now switched my attention to the Dee estuary. In order to hit the tide right, I was up at 5.30 a.m.
In no time at all, I was on my way to the beach. That in itself is quite a trek but, once there, the real journey starts. A forty minute one to be precise.
The beach is flat and the water recedes a great distance at low tide, as it retreats to the River Dee estuary. It’s one of my favourite spots though and always worth it.
The tackle was identical to the Rhyl outings. It’s a pretty standard approach but it works. When you can avoid the crabs, that is. I caught a few whiting and lots of dabs, including three double-headers.
