Fishing on the canal and joined by Ian Clarke
Most of my angling sessions tend to be either early in the morning or last thing up to dark and, for my Good Friday session, it was the former.
As I parked the car and started to unload my gear, I had a text from my friend, Ian Clarke, saying he was going to fish the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal.
He mentioned the stretch, which was the exact one I was on, so in due course we were sitting next to each other on the towpath.
We caught gudgeon, perch and roach between us. Nothing prolific but the company was good.
I fished two white maggots over loose maggots and brown crumb in the boat channel.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 0.6g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.
Nature notes: The chiffchaffs are well and truly here in numbers now and there was constant song from the trees around.
