The dawn chorus, followed by an early morning pool session
Not intentionally, but we didn’t close the bedroom window last night, and at 4.39 a.m. I was woken by a robin singing in the garden.
This was joined by a mistle thrush and then lots of blackbirds.
I captured footage, which you can listen to at the start of the video.
I then went fishing, with tench the target species.
It is a small pool and the tincas aren’t prolific anyway, so it’s always been a challenge at the best of times.
The roach were very obliging though.
I fished four rod-lengths from the bank, in six feet of water, presenting a grain of corn over loose corn.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 11’ 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel loaded with 6lb Maxima Chameleon. The bomb was 3/8 ounce and the hook a size 10 Drennan Super Specialist.
Nature watch: Pair of grey wagtails in flight across the pool. Several chiffchaff singing in the area. Treecreeper.
Enjoyed your video on Sedgley Beacon. Me and my daughter built the bench at the far end by Wolverhampton Road facing West about 12 years ago. Best place to sit and watch the Summer sunsets.
Neill
Thanks, Neill.
That’s great, it is a beautiful place and some of the sunset views are magnificent from the area.
I moved a few miles west in 2020 and we now get marvellous sunrises from the living room window.
