A Christmas fish on a festive bait

A Christmas fish on a festive bait

Inspired by my perch on prawn in the last outing and, with the mild conditions continuing, I went for another session on the pond in question, pursuing the species with the festive food item.

I was in the same spot as previously and I again flicked the bait out underneath an overhanging tree.

I fished over loose-fed maggots and enjoyed watching the rod tip for signs of life.

There’s something exciting about the anticipation of interest, isn’t there?

Missing an early flicker of movement in the short session, I did wonder if I would get a second bite of the cherry.

I did though, and that’s the fish that features as the lead image in the video.

It’s a nice way of fishing and catching on different baits is always pleasing.

Tackle: Fox Barbel Special rod. Okuma Zeon reel. Maxima Chameleon 6lb line. 1/8 ounce lead. Small shot and bead to create a 6 inch hook length. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.

Nature notes: A single cormorant flew high overhead. Likewise, a grey heron but much lower.
