Christmas Eve fishing on a pond

A few fish from the session.

I didn’t get to bed until after 2.00 a.m. following a working football game in Pembrokeshire.

With a couple of articles to write, I was up nice and early.

Then I went fishing.

On a pond, where the water is between two and three feet deep, I fished double white maggots just over one rod length from the bank.

It was a short session, and although I didn’t catch many fish, nevertheless they were decent enough, when you take the venue into consideration.

I had just the one perch, plus roach in the plural.

The air temperature was 14C, which is incredibly warm for this time of the year.

Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 0.6g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.

Nature notes: Flock (c.50) of siskins feeding in a common alder tree alongside the pond.
