Montgomery Canal fishing on the way to work

Canal fishing on the way to work

With the River Severn high and rising, it was back to plan b as far as fishing was concerned, as I dropped off for an hour or so on the Montgomery Canal, as I made my way to work.

As you can see – and hear – in the short video, I was close to a road bridge.

It also started to rain fairly heavily during the session as well, with the bridge acting as a formidable concrete umbrella.

I fished with a small waggler float, 4lb Maxima Chameleon line and two white maggots on a size 14 Drennan Super Specialist hook.

I presented the bait in the boat channel over brown crumb and mixed maggots.

Once the fish moved in, the action was consistent with some nice roach putting in an appearance.

They were my target species as well and it’s always more pleasing when you catch fish by design.
