Tench fishing to start the day — Feeding a coot who is feeding a coot — A challenging angling session — From Liverpool to Blackburn Rovers and now The New Saints on loan, an interview with Jared Harlock

A challenging angling session

It was a very warm and pleasant afternoon and with the sun shining and a bright sky, hardly what you would call good fishing weather.

However, I fancied fishing a small pond that I had in mind and so that’s where I went.

There were lots of overhanging trees and lilies, so a couple of positives there.

The other side of the coin is that it’s extremely shallow and the water is very clear meaning I could see the bottom.

Plus, with it being a lovely day, there was a constant disturbance from people passing by, sometimes extreme.

Nothing like a challenge though, is there?

I fished two white maggots on a size 14 hook underneath a 0.8g waggler, tricking in a few maggots every now and then, especially on the occasions that I saw fish.

I was very pleased with how it went, catching perch and a solitary roach.

It just goes to show, no matter how difficult it may appear, as long as your bait’s in the water you’ve always got a chance.
