It’s not often you see a family of kingfishers
We’ve currently got lots of recently-fledged birds in the garden and even in a short time yesterday morning, before I went to work, I watched young blue tits, chaffinches, dunnocks, goldfinches, great tits, greenfinches and house sparrows.
However, it’s not often you see young kingfishers. Once they’re out of the nest, the adult birds only feed their offspring for a few days before leaving them to fend for themselves.
While on my angling session though, it was great to see a number of kingfishers on the pond.
I was in a tight spot so I didn’t have a full view, plus there is more water in the wider area.
That, combined with the fact they were very active, meant I wasn’t able to count exactly how many birds were present but nevertheless it was still fantastic to see.
Angling, the perfect platform from which to engage with the natural world.
