It’s the same as the angling version, as long as your bait’s in the water and all that.
When I interview players after a match, I often ask them how they felt their own performance went.
If that question was put to me, I would have replied that although I could have done better, I was still happy overall.
Be positive and content but always look for improvement, which is a good attitude to have generally in life.
The biggest thing though, as far as I’m concerned, is that I’m still playing all-age football at the age of 61.
That, more than anything, gives me a lot of personal satisfaction.
