It was a nice enough one as well, but on 6lb line it really was just a case of reeling it in.
Going for a quiver tip approach, I had a light bomb (1/4 ounce) on the line with a small shot and bead about six inches from the size 12 hook.
Bait was three white maggots.
As the tench continued to feed, I put enough bait out to keep them in the swim, waiting for a fish to pick up not only the freebies but also the ones attached to the Drennan Super Specialist.
In the end, although I lost a couple of tincas, I banked just the one roach.
At least I wasn’t a blanker.
