A short session on a pool
I’ve enjoyed my canal angling visits very much in the last few days but I fancied fishing a pool this time.
That’s how angling should be, head for whatever takes your fancy at that time.
So, late morning, on a small venue it was, and especially as the schools were closed due to voting, I set up in a spot where I wouldn’t be disturbed too much.
I fished with the same float set-up as of late and I decided to keep the size 12 hook.
The venue isn’t exactly pressured and my thinking was that it wouldn’t deter any small fish.
I was correct.
Plus, if I did strike into something bigger then I would have more chance of staying connected.
I knew though, from past experience on the pool that this wasn’t the ideal time to fish but it just worked out that way with the day’s plans.
It’s always better to cast a line at the ‘wrong’ time than to not fish at all.
I cast one rod length from the bank in water that was less than a metre deep and trickled maggots in according to the fish activity.
I was there for just an hour and, as I expected, caught small roach and perch.
Nothing big but all good fun.
Isn’t that what angling should be?
