A visit to Geoff’s Tackle & Bait in Rhyl, followed by a low water trip to the Dee estuary at Talacre

I had a very quiet opening fifteen minutes with just one crab and then the whiting appeared on the scene.

I had fish pretty much every cast and, for the fourth holiday session on the bounce, I lost count of how many I caught.

My approach, tackle-wise, was as per the harbour visits so you can see my rigs etc in those blog posts.

I enjoyed catching whiting but I really wanted dabs. Was I going to blank as far as the species was concerned?

  1. A successful session there Stewart topped off with the dab at the end. Geoffs Tackle shop is a veritable Aladdins cave.

    1. It was indeed, Glyn. I love fishing Talacre. A long walk but worth it.
I’ve been going to Geoff’s for years now whenever I’ve been on holiday.
Next time you’re in, tell Darren you saw him on YouTube!
