A foggy afternoon angling session on the River Severn and thoughts on blanks

I didn’t like the colour of the river too much, which whenever I come across that grey tinge I always think of it as piscatorial death.

That proved to be the case as well, with nothing at all from the session, although I did have a slight pluck in late dusk.

My plan was to start fishing with three maggots on a size 12 hook, catch a few small chub and switch to a big chunk of bread on a size 2 hook.

Unfortunately, I never progressed from phase one.

There was nothing wrong with my confidence either, in regards to the comment about the water colour.

I just saw that as a challenge, that’s all.
