Cotwall End Valley nature diary – November 2022

November 7

A morning walk in the lane and then the woodland.

I was thinking how slow it was and then I spotted a large bird in flight over the western ridge of the valley.

It was a great white egret and I was thrilled, my first sighting in the valley.

I’m looking forward to next year when I will have the full twelve months to find out how many ticks I’ll get.

Birds seen: wood pigeon, dunnock, magpie, robin, great white egret, mallard (m,f), moorhen, long-tailed tit, blackbird (m), nuthatch, blue tit, carrion crow, feral pigeon.

Others: grey squirrel.
