Turning down a couple of jobs, perch fishing with prawn on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal and thoughts on Rachel Reeves’ tears in the House of Commons
I’ve worked on a couple of gardens so far this week, both of which are regulars, with brief footage from them in the video.
I’ve also turned down two gardening jobs, one the other side of Wolverhampton and the second one near Worcester. Again, thoughts on that in the video.
One thing I never turn away from though is the opportunity to go fishing.
I drove the short distance to the rural Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal, with a very focused approach in mind.

I baited an area on the far side of the boat channel.
Fishing over brown crumb, prawns and red maggots, I had a small fish in the net after twenty minutes.
As far as the first hour of the session was concerned, the only other action was a hook-pull.
The middle sixty minutes produced one bite and one perch on the bank.
The final hour – and the one that you would expect to be the most productive – ended with two hook-pulls and a brace of bream.

Nature notes: Jackdaws (c.50) in the immediate area. Pheasant calling from land behind the swim. Carrion crows (c.250) in dusk flight on the way to roost.
