🎣 Perch fishing on the Staffs & Worcs Canal
Although I didn’t go to bed until about 1.30 a.m., I was still up a few hours later to go fishing. It’s better than rising for work, that’s a fact, although I’ve done my fair share of that over the years. After yesterday’s trip to a pond, it was destination canal this morning.
To be precise, the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, which is close to where I live. When you throw into the mix that it’s a rural area, travel is not an issue. The traffic was heavier this morning, due to people passing through as they made their way to work, but we’re not exactly talking metropolis levels.
Once at the water’s edge, the video picks up the session. Even though it was a chilly start to the day, I caught, with both perch and roach ending up on the bank.
As far as the natural world was concerned, although I didn’t see them, there were blackbirds, mistle thrushes and song thrushes singing in the wider area. Talking of thrushes, there must have been a robin in the hedgerow behind me.
As I was unaware, it then came alongside me, to get my attention. A few maggots later and it was on its way. There were two male goosanders on the water, which were making their way along the canal. Once they saw me, though, they were off.
