🎣 A needle in a haystack session but I still caught

On a recent pike session, I saw a bream top on the pool that I was fishing.

It wasn’t a big fish, but the venue is not noted for the species, therefore I decided to return to test the potential.

I fished a couple of rod lengths from the bank in two metres of water, with a grain of sweetcorn over loose corn.

The float didn’t remain motionless for long, as I banked my first fish of the new month, a roach.

Although I didn’t catch a bream, at least I wasn’t a blanker, as the roach proved to be obliging.

Obviously down to the bait and hook size, but it was a case of quality over quantity, which is relative, of course.

They weren’t big fish in that sense but from the venue, which is stuffed full of tiny roach, certainly noticeable in terms of size difference.

As far as the bream were concerned, it was always going to be a needle in a haystack job anyway.
