Scrape ice, go tench fishing

Scraping ice and tench fishing.

Not two actions that naturally go together but that’s what I did this morning, on a lake.

I knew it was going to be a chilly overnighter but I wasn’t expecting a layer of ice on the car windshield.

It was thick enough to require the scraper as well.

The sea fishing sessions last week were very enjoyable but now it’s time to get back to the bread-and-butter of coarse angling.

Tench are on the menu for a good few months now.

Not exclusively, as I’ll also be targeting other species, but nevertheless there’ll be plenty of tincas on the bank.

Not today though.

No bubbles. No liners. No fish.

They’ll be waking up shortly though.

Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 11’ 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel loaded with 6lb Maxima Chameleon. The bomb was 3/8 ounce and the hook a size 12 Drennan Super Specialist.

Nature notes: Three cormorants feeding on the lake.
