I’ve fished the Montgomery Canal several times over the winter period, setting off earlier for work and enjoying a couple of hours angling.
It’s something that I’ve been doing for several years but the arrival of cormorants in recent months has had a big effect on the catch rate.
It’s gone from lots of fish each session to a situation where just one is a result.
This visit to the canal will be my last, well certainly for a while anyway.
It was a very murky morning when I arrived and you could feel the damp in the air.
Fishing next to a road bridge, I baited the hook with two white maggots/two casters and loose fed maggots and casters.
I didn’t get a single tap on the float, which reinforces the comment about the cormorants.
