Next stop Swansea, first though some fishing
I talk about conditions inconsistency in the video above and that was highlighted when I arrived at the small pool.
On my last visit there, it was in excellent condition, but due to heavy overnight rain it was up and coloured.
Sounds like a river doesn’t it, not a small still water.
Flicking the 0.6g waggler just off the rod tip, I threw out a few loose maggots.
I had to wait a while before the two whites on a size 14 hook were picked up but, as I struck, I didn’t connect with the fish.
There was plenty of action in the swim after that but not the sort I wanted, as a pike had moved in.
It was a very active predator as well, and with it being just a short session before I set off for Swansea, I was wondering if I would catch.
I’m always confident though and, although I didn’t have much to play with due to the limited amount of water in front of me, I was able to cast out to a different spot.
It worked and I ended with a few perch and roach.
Nature watch: Very mild conditions saw a pair of mallards mating on the pool.
