Variety is the spice of angling life or more of the same?
I keep thinking that variety is the spice of life and I’ll try a different type of venue, but I still find myself returning to small still waters.
The reason is because I want to and that’s the bottom line of angling, isn’t it?
It’s not like work, where you’re told what to do and where to go.
On arrival at the small pool that I fished in this session, the water wasn’t as clear as normal, due to the recent heavy rain.
However, the slight tinge gave it an appeal.
It looked good.
The pool is shallow and I fished water that was less than two feet deep.
I flicked the waggler just beyond the rod tip and trickled mixed maggots out in accordance with the action that I had.
The bait was two white maggots on a size 14 hook.
With both shot either side of the float, the bait sank more naturally in the water, with numerous bites coming on the drop.
I caught all roach, except for a solitary perch.
