Little and large (relatively speaking) on the bank
With a working day ahead, by necessity it was a quick (one hour) angling session first thing.
I haven’t been on a pond for a few weeks and that’s where I headed, with The Marvelettes’ self-titled 1967 album to keep me company on the way.
Before I pulled off the drive though, I was scraping ice from the windshield.
Even driving extremely carefully, I felt my tyres slide briefly at one point.
It was frightening, once I was off the lane on the b road, to witness both cars and motorcycles racing along as if it was the height of summer.
I knew the angling was going to be a challenge and especially so when I chose to fish the shallower end of a shallow pond.
I stayed with my size 14 hook and two white maggots approach, based on the opinion that if I did hook something bigger, I wanted to minimise the chances of the hook pulling.
The water was just two feet deep and I didn’t need the thermometer to tell me that it was very cold.
The small waggler wasn’t busy at all but it did dip a couple of times, resulting in little and large (relatively speaking) on the bank.
