Released in 1916, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea is a silent movie that relies on text to keep you updated with the story.
It’s very good for its time, in that several plots are visited throughout the film, which all come together during the movie
It’s right at the end when they finally merge and it all makes sense.
The director is Stuart Paton, who was quite a star at the time, as far as movies are concerned.
Sadly, many of those have been lost forever.
Based on the famous Jules Verne novel, there’s also something of The Mysterious Island in there as well.
The film tells the story of Captain Nemo, who we eventually find out is an Indian Prince.
He takes to the seas in order to seek revenge against the man who caused his wife’s death.
An excellent movie, when you consider when it was released.
