Before work, a tench session
With a day of work – or to be precise, mostly travelling – ahead of me, I started on the right foot.
Back on the tench lake first thing, it was the usual approach.
Legering a grain of corn on a size 10 hook three or four rod lengths from the bank over brown crumb and sweetcorn, I didn’t have long to wait before the first fish put in an appearance.
It wasn’t a tinca though but a nice roach that I brought in.
I’ve been catching a few of those while on my tench campaign and they’re firmly on my radar for later in the year.
For now though, I’m focused on the aforementioned species and I caught a couple in the two hours I was there.
Having your rod ready to go is a big plus when time is tight.
The less time you spend messing about, the more there is to fish.
