The UEFA delegate’s meeting at Stade de Luxembourg — Sightseeing in Luxembourg City and a poignant reminder of Nazi occupation — Behind the media scenes as Swift Hesperange play The New Saints in the Europa Conference League

Sightseeing in Luxembourg City

Following the meeting at the stadium, it was time to do some sightseeing proper, as we remained in the city centre before heading back to the hotel.

I loved the walk, there’s so much history to engage with.

The one that left its biggest mark on me was the monument to the Jews that were killed when the Germans invaded Luxembourg during WWII.

It’s not instantly recognisable for what it is in memory of and it was the Hebrew inscription on the front that caught my eye.

Before the war, around 3.500 Jews lived in Luxembourg.

Some fled (up to 2,500) to France, where many were later killed, others were taken to concentration camps from Luxembourg itself.

By the end of the holocaust, only 36 from the country were known to have survived camps, with estimates of up to 2,500 people being killed.

You can see the monument, as well as other clips, via the video below.
