Once we had made our stops on the way, to pick up players and staff, we were on the northbound M6.
The journey took us through the traditional English counties of Lancashire, Westmoreland and Cumberland.
I’m old enough to remember the historic counties and still use them in terms of reference.
The scenery that you pass through in the north of England is superb and it’s a reminder of how beautiful the United Kingdom is, geographically speaking.
We stopped off at the North Lakes Hotel, Penrith, for our pre-match meal.
