As always, once at the water’s edge the first thing I did was to mix some brown crumb and mixed maggots.
I then threw the bait between two and three rod-lengths out into the lake.
There was a gentle breeze at times, so it wasn’t always possible to spot tench feeding bubbles.
The first few fish were roach and they were decent enough ones as well.
Then I had a tench on but very briefly, as it parted company with the hook after a few seconds.
Talking of the hook, the tackle used is in the accompanying video.
