A morning angling session on the Staffs/Worcs Canal, blogging thoughts and don’t allow things over which you have no control to affect you, as Everton fans trigger Molineux memories

Let’s go canal fishing

A change is as good as a rest, as they say, and when I woke this morning I thought to myself, ‘let’s go canal fishing’.

So I did. It’s as simple as that.

I replaced the leger rod in the quiver with a float one, swapped corn for maggots and was on my way in no time at all.

That’s the beauty of being a solo angler, you can please yourself.

I’m not knocking the concept of having a fishing buddy, by the way, far from it.

I understand fully why many like to fish with a companion but, for me, the freedom and flexibility of ploughing my own furrow is my personal choice.
