It’s a long movie (139 minutes) and requires attention initially to keep with the plot.
I was more in tune with it as it developed, especially when it came to the action.
There are deviations from the true historical account.
For example, although Fanny Duberly was in Crimea (her journal was later published), she didn’t have an adulterous affair with Lord Cardigan.
That was made up purely to add some ‘spice’ to the film.
